Notifications on mobile: I used Flotilla on graphene. Turns out that by default all notifications are set to OFF. Only when I spoke to Endo about not having notifications working, he suggested to check notification settings. Once I enabled them all, the notifications started partially working. Probably worked for most group chats, but certainly didn't work for direct/private messages (no sound and no notification on screen of the phone).

If there is a reason to keep all notifications off by default, then let the user know, upon the first on-boarding that the notifications are OFF and where to enable them. Perhaps a short guide with a few slides explaining the basics to the user and showing them around Flotilla technical features will help.

When joining a space, there's a notification toggle, but it doesn't do anything if the user hasn't turned notifications on. Default that to off, and when the user presses it enable the default notification settings.
