When you join a space, you also have to bookmark rooms to get notified about activity. This is annoying because users aren't going to do that by default (bookmarks are kind of advanced, and only matter if there are a lot of rooms). Maybe the #26 update will fix this. But users should get a notification badge for spaces they're interested in until they express preference about which rooms they want to know about. Maybe instead of (or in addition to) bookmarking we could add "mute"?
